Hi, might be a stupid question but for the Sony a6000, better have the 35mm specifically for APS-C rather than FE right? Thanks mate and thanks for the awesome content

@ 6:35, where did you get that neck strap? I love how skinny it is and how it can fit in the holes without an adapter thing. do you know what its called?

Two Wheel Davey

Hi! Is this camera and lens any good for making pictures of my motorcycle?

The OnlyJimbat

I regret buying the Sony 50mm f1.8 as mostly I shoot indoors and it's too zoom in for me. Might consider getting this buy a bit paranoid at the same time I would make the same mistake

Tina Le

Just upgraded from my kit lens to this lens and yes I love its bokehliciousness 🥰

berberida

I loved this video, plus you are so funny. Also I’ve just bought my 35mm 1.8 lens! Thank you for sharing

Just got the a6400 with the 16-50mm kit lens, and considering buying the 35mm. Will the kit lens be «useless» after i get the 35 or are there situations where the kit lens still might be a better option to use?

Hi, watching your video from Indonesia. Great video. Anyway, in Indonesia this lens cost less than the sigma 30mm f1.4. My main purpose of the camera is photography, only little video. Is sony still better compared to sigma in 2020? I'm a6000 user too, thank you.

I was stuck between this lens you reviewed Sony 35mm 1.8 and the Sigma 30mm 2.8 EX DN. I ended up getting the Sigma for £100 second hand. I went for this, because of the many reviews said this lens was a lot sharper than the Sony 35mm 1.8. I must admit, it is tack sharp wide open. It's a lovely little lens. I also purchased the Sigma 60mm 2.8 DN ART for the same price a few months later. Shame Sony doesn't bring out some nice focal lengths for aps-c as good as Sigma. Mostly full frame all the time. Great video.

Nerd Of Steel

If I have a 50mm should I buy a 35mm for street photography

Bisrael

Will this work on the Sony a5100?

Solid review. great stuff. I have been looking at the 35mm but I am on a tight budget. I have the 18-105 already, and I shoot mainly during travels, street photography, and during family events. since I am on tight budget, I was thinking of trading my 18-105 to the 35mm+kitlens. should I go for it?

I found my piece… Thank you…

So you convinced me to get the Sony a6000 as my first camera, and had been trying to decide on a lens to grab other than the kit lens. You convinced me to get this one now too 😛 So far have just photographed my dogs and my niece but the pics have come out great. (Got it 2 days ago). My next one will be the Sigma 16mm f1.4 that you had suggested. Keep up the great videos! Thanks!

I have the E35 f/1.8 but I almost never use it. 35 on APS-C is equal to 52 on full frame. It's too narrow, a 24 (eq 36) is more interresting for me.

I would simply add that there is an obsession with IBIS ( and other names) being featured in both lens and camera bodies
Many survived for decades without these aids, and given the ISOs, you can push these cameras to, just dial in the fastest apertures and I doubt that camera shake will really be a problem.
Note, that I do not use any of my still cameras for video. If want to do video, simply use an excellent Panasonic I purchased yeara ago for just this.

This is being put a little late. Have a6000 and planning to migrate to a64000- solely due to focus tracking ability,- have children and grandchildren who will not remain still, makes it very hard to nail eyes!
Given the lack of decent native glass when got a6000,, purchased Sigma 16 1.4 (what a lens, check out Technology Mafia and other stellar reviews of this lens), the expensive but excellent, Sony Zeiss 35 2.8 ., fast enough. Will buy semi-legendary Sony Zeiss 55 1.8, ok expensive, but just read the review of DXOMA – one of the best lenses it has tested.

David Sunarto

Great vid… Razor sharp 😊 i have 18-105 and sigma 16mm, since i feel the sigma is way to wide, im planning to replace it with the 35mm or the sigma 30mm 😊 i use a6400 and mostly for travel photo video portrait, some suggestions, please 😅thx👍

I took this lens on a trip to Charleston. I was very impressed with the photos.

You did not compare 35mm and sigma 16 mm 🙂

Jose M

I've been watching a lot of your videos lately and I don't know if it's a WB problem but your videos has a magenta tint in my calibrated screen and my phone.

Kevin Sim

Hi Kyle, I’ve read a comment on the interwebs somewhere that 35mm (full frame) is great for over-the-dinner-table photography. Could you do a video on that please? I can’t find anything on that topic. Do i go 24mm on my kit lens? Do i set the picture setting to “Incandescent”? I find that with the prevalence of flourescent lighting everywhere (they’re actually better for your eyes than LED), I need to go to “Neutral” lighting mode to cancel out the yellowish tinge.

Ted Riggs

Do you ever record these videos with the 35mm or would that just be too close for where you're sitting? I'm trying to determine whether the 16mm or the 35mm will be better for me. I've been strongly considering buying the 18-105 first, which will let me explore many different ranges.

BTW, correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like you're sitting about 2' away from your lens.
I expected to see distortion at that range. Are you correcting for distortion when editing your videos?

Gabriel Lui

Would you rather this lens for street photography? Or sigma 30mm

nice video bro. You make me have a passion with A6000 + Len sel 35mm

TK

please advise , when you take landscape shot, what is the sweetest f stop for this lens…and when you take indoor group shot for 02 or 3 people what should be your f stop…to keep everyone in focus as I think you cant use f1.8 in these scenarios

Steph Quay

Is it worth getting this lens after I just got the 50mm f1.8?

Kathy Simindinger

Great video. Thanks for the sample images.

Debra Manuel

Would this lens work on my a6000 for indoor volleyball action shots? Not looking for professional action shots just better lighting mostly on the pics I do take
