It is native to South & Southeast Asia. These days it is grown in tropical regions around the world. For instance, Australia far north regions such as Darwin and Cairns. I think they are also grown in Florida U.S.A.
Dutch called it Pomelo or something longer.  In Vietnamese we called it Bưởi. English named it Grapefruit.  Beware western supermarkets (Coles, Woolworths) may label and sell some other variety of Grapefruit (which I found quite bitter) but not the one you've seen here.  I buy the true Southeast Asian Pemolo from Asian fruit markets.  Here in Australia they sell the pink and honey white variety. I like the pink better, it's a little more sour than the honey white variety. Regarding taste, ripen Pomelo should not be bitter. Taste will depend on where they are grown; so ask the seller where it was imported or came from.

Chị H ơi có phải là lúc mà mình để gỏi vào trái bưởi là mình phải để cái chén vào lồng bưởi để cho gỏi ko rơi ra ngoài phải ko chị ?

I liked the voice overs before, but this style, in my opinion, is better. I like hearing the sounds of cooking and the kitchen studio is beautiful.  I appreciate the fact that in all of your recipe videos you keep it short and to the point.  I don't need to watch someone chopping onions and garlic for ten minutes like some other channels.  I've had your cookbook since January of this year and I am so pleased with it. Seeing you wear your apron makes me want to order one as well.  🙂

Lucille Ingrid K.

Why do you have a green pomelo? I know only the yellow one.

Helen, I am Vietnamese expat living in the US. I really miss Vietnamese food. I started watching your videos mostly because of your lovely personality and soft voice, so different from most of the blaring loud videos I've seen.I think the new kitchen looks very professional and make your presentation very polished. I mostmostmost definitely prefer the lack of background music 🙂 too distracting. But I will always have a soft spot for the old videos.  of their charm was because they were "amateurish" and feels genuine, as if we were sharing part of your day.

Love you Helen awesome dish!!!

Looks delicious Helen!

squishygurl

Hello Helen,
Yep I loved the new format.  You can do all your new shows in this method as I think it is even better then before .. If that was even possible.  I loved your shows before and now I think they are even more detailed and easier to follow.  I have seen a pomelo  before but never knew what the Heck to do with one or even how to open it .. Can it be eaten just like a grapefruit ?  Is it sour or sweet ?  It looks sorta like a dried up grapefruit pulp …BUT tasty …

Cristina Hess

Now I know what to do with those big green 'things' I see at the market:)  Can't wait to try this recipe!!

DoodahGurl

Love the recipe.  So refreshing during these hot summer months.  I know you're getting a mic to solve the sound issues, but I think I prefer the pace of your other videos.  They flow better and are more efficient. I know it's your first time doing it this way so maybe you were uncertain or nervous, so maybe it will get better as you practice this format some more.  I just like how smoothly the cooking and voice over flows seamlessly in the old videos.

warisover

Congratulations Helen on your new kitchen studio! Great recipe.

Van

Love that I can see you while you're cooking now. I was so focused on watching you that I didn't even notice the sound problems that people were talking about.

quadbox

I don't know what sort of crazy person would give your video a thumbs down, but I really love taking inspiration from your videos and learning new flavour combinations. Thanks.

P H

You always make it look so easy. I'm a professional and would still probably not make it as good as you. I made a papaya salad the other day and it just didn't taste the same as the restaurant. Maybe it was the recipe? Included crab paste and shrimp paste with little eggplants and string beans. Always love your videos.

venus

This is amazing Helen. I love all Ur recipes!! I also like Ur previous videos how you feature people at the market of how they cook their foods. You're doing an excellent job! 😀 I am excited to see more videos.
