Stuck impeller blade, thanks. And I'm starting to think we use the word 'engineer' too freely. Whoever engineers these with things like fan bearings exposed to the floor where dirt routinely accumulates needs their title changed to 'hack'.

the water in mine won't get hot.

Maytag with knob to set various program for cycles, and buttons for options: Optional heat and water temp boost off. Loud bang like a gunshot at end of wash cycle and circuit-breaker trips. Reset breaker and it continues to end of program with no further trouble. Nothing obvious burnt and no burning smell. Ideas?

Thank you for the valuable info. I was able to fix the problem.

I am having trouble reading at the best of times but why make it complicated by using a font that is very hard to read?

qch2012

What a ugly font !!!

I have a GE Triton XL that would fill with water then just hum and eventually stop. I tried turning the motor, it was very stiff like you said. It finally freed up after lots of turning. Powered it back on and BAM! Works like a charm! The motor on mine looks just like the inset at the very end of your video. Thank you, Kung Fu!

this guys almost as good as margera nice vid

I have a 1 year old GE dishwasher that won't start. I've seen things about the switch / latch I loosened screws on mounting brackets but didn't seem any different
It's has front touch pad design

Nice video thanks

Haipeng Huang

Your video really help me, thank you!

Michael Neris

Just wanted to say thanks. I assumed that because we hadn't used the dishwasher in about 7 months it was possible that the motor was just struck. Saw your video and it was confirmed. Thanks. It took about 5 minutes to get it working again.

I have a 2-year-old KitchenAid KDTE104DSS0 that doesn't clean dishes well, leaving food particles on dishes and usually 1/3 of the silverware is dirty enough after cycling even the "heavy duty" cycle that it has to be cleaned by hand. The dishes also don't dry. The only thing that improves performance is if I pour a gallon of close-to-boiling water in the dishwasher before closing the door. I've replaced water inlet valve, thermostat, and heating element and this has changed nothing. Any ideas on what could be the problem?

martyure

Thanks! I disconnected the drain hose and put the end in a bucket and it worked fine. Traced the problem to the sink drain assembly and found that the tube was partially collapsed restricting the flow. Replace that part and now everything works like it should.

On the older GE dish washers there is a rotating ceramic seal between the food shredder and the motor. if the sump has been dry for a while, the two halves will adhere to each other and the motor will not turn. Sometimes you can simply reach in and rotate either the shredder or the motor fan and it will break loose but I have seen some that will break the seal body loose in the pump housing before breaking loose. New motor pump assembly required then!

Most times it's not the disposal drain line it's the disposal itself that's clogged

The purpose of the text should to inform your audience and not to challenge them in reading it.

Matthew Hayes

As everyone mentioned… change the font. Additionally, remember you are filming. Point the camera at the things you are talking about and try not to shake the camera so much. Makes me dizzy.

Very informative, but those two things make it almost un-watchable.

VERY HELPFUL air gap solution
Our problem was that water was coming out of the air gap. Learning how to get the top off was very helpful, we actually got a long drain cleaning tool from Home Depot. It is for removing hair & scum from drain lines. We do not have a garbage disposal so we ran the cleaning tool, looks like an old pipe cleaner, down the air gap drain and were able to clean out the clog.

I have a brand new kitchenaid dishwasher. when the wash, rinse & dry cycles areall done there is still water under the removable filter; is this normal? I've never had a dishwasher before. The dishes come out very clean & dry, seems like everything is working great. The only thing is that I don't have an air gap & my hose isn't long enough to loop it way up high, I already have the 12 foot hose, I could not install my dishwasher right next to the sink that's why I needed the longer hose. Can I attach the 6 foot hose to the 12 foot one to make room to loop it up or is that too much hose? I thought that I read not to use more than 12 feet.

steven marx

Hey it was a chicken (neck) bone in the air gap. How'd you know? Thanks for saving me a bundle!

I have a Electrolux dishwasher and the error 3 message comes on, well we had that pump replaced, but when we run the unit it is still giving us that error. even though the control panel is reading , since it isn't resetting is it still the control board that is messed up?

Barbara Kaufer

I don't have that in the bottom of mine, where else should I look other than taking the lower impellar off?

Barbara Kaufer

thank you, this looks easy to resolve

I have a Bosch model SHE4AM15UC/01 dishwasher.  For quite a while every week or so the clean light would come on before the cycle would normally complete (abnormal short cycle), the dishwasher would stop, and there would be water in the bottom. I would clean the filter and drain sump area and it would be fine for a while.  About two weeks ago, it started doing it  every time we use it. Today I cleaned out all the plumbing under the sink where the drain hose goes.  I removed the drain pump and found no obstructions. With the pump out I ran the dishwasher through a reset cycle and the pump ran fine.I tried another operation of the dishwasher and observed just before the abnormal termination the pump comes on three  times for about 10 seconds each, and then stops with the clean light on.  There is water  in the bottom. What have I missed?

Michael Was

my dishwasher fills somewhat after witch it makes noise like something is trying to latch. I checked for continuity across the water inlet valve contacts and I have none. Also the dishwasher won't drain. We checked all the impellers and drains and everything seems clear.

jumahl47

I got seasick watching this – do you have a friend who could hold the camera steady while you demonstrate?

P Nguyen

Hey one questions. My dishwasher always has a puddle of water at the bottom of the washer after a complete cycle. Is that normal?

P Nguyen

Saved me some time and money! Thanks bud!

Nice information.

Really unfortunate choice in font. So difficult to read.

Worst font ever!

Soap dispenser sticks closed. Small red clip that holds dispenser closed does not move to open dispenser. It is all plastic so I am afraid to force it, and break it.
How can I get the clip loose so that it opens and dumps soap out.
